Happy birthday, Biblioteca Capitolare!
On 1 August 517, in the Veronese scriptorium, the scribe Ursicino completed, signed and dated a manuscript which still stands today as the earliest certain record of our history.
That signature marks the start of a documented continuity spanning 1,509 years, making the Biblioteca Capitolare in Verona the oldest library in the world still in operation today.
To celebrate this anniversary, we look forward to welcoming you on Saturday 1 August for a special day:
Reduced admission for all visitors
Guided tours of the museum spaces at a special rate:
• 10.00 am – tour in Italian | €10
• 11.30 am – tour in English | €15
An opportunity to discover at first hand a history spanning more than fifteen centuries, still alive in manuscripts, ancient codices and memory.
Booking required | limited places
The guided tour will operate with a minimum of 10 participants. If the minimum number is not reached by 5:00 PM the day before the tour, participants will be notified and tickets will be refunded.
