EVENTI

On Saturday September 19th at 10.00 am, a special themed tour will take place in two parts, spread across two cultural venues in Verona, exploring the ways and tools humanity has used to observe, understand and describe the sky in the past centuries.

The tour will begin at the Biblioteca Capitolare, where, following an introductory session in the splendid monumental hall, participants will be guided through the ancient texts on display in the current temporary exhibition on the theme of astronomy. From Ptolemy to Copernicus, from Aristotle to Galileo, via the sundials of Cassini and Bianchini and the globes of Doppelmayr, amongst eclipses, constellations and supernovae: the tour will illustrate the myths, models and calculations that have shaped the observation and interpretation of the night sky over the centuries.

The tour will then continue at the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum: following a brief introduction to the history of the Miniscalchi family and the palace, the visit will proceed to the piano nobile and the Wunderkammer, the ‘chamber of wonders’ belonging to the Veronese scholar and collector Ludovico Moscardo. Particular attention will be given to the astronomical instruments in the collection, including an extremely valuable 11th-century Islamic astrolabe, a testament to the exchange of knowledge and diverse cultures.

The visits are completely in italian.

Limited places available!

Duration: approximately 2 hours.

Full-price ticket: €20

Concession ticket (11–14 years and certified carers of people with a disability card): €15

Free for children up to 10 years old and holders of a disability card
