By sea and by land

Itineraries, charts and maps to discover the world

Our new temporary exhibition is ready to take you on a journey of discovery to faraway places! By sea and by land. Itineraries, charts and maps for discovering the world is a journey through the centuries that explores different ways of describing and representing space, including maps, nautical charts and atlases, from ancient Greece to the Renaissance, through calculations, symbols and scientific and geographical discoveries.

The exhibition, which includes precious manuscripts, geographical charts and original printed texts – including an evocative portolan chart and precious 16th-century editions of Ptolemy's Geography – will be open to visitors during the usual opening hours: every day except Wednesday, from 10:00 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:30.
